Joe Biden was born on November 20, 1942, in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Biden's mother, Catherine Eugenia "Jean" Biden (née Finnegan), was born in Ireland and raised in the United States. His father, Joseph Robinette "Joe" Biden Sr., was born in Pennsylvania and had English, Irish, and Scottish ancestry. Biden's great-great-great grandfather, William Biden, was born in Sussex, England, and immigrated to the United States in the 1700s.

In 2020, Biden announced that he was running for President of the United States.
