Cats

Cats are one of the most popular pets in the world. They are known for their independent nature, and their ability to be trained to use a litter box. Cats come in a variety of colors and patterns, and can have long or short fur. Most cats are very affectionate, and enjoy spending time with their humans.

History

Cats have been around for a long time. In fact, they were around even before humans were around. Scientists believe that cats first appeared on Earth about 12 million years ago. They were probably living in the forests of Asia.

Characteristics

Cats are small carnivorous mammals of the Felidae family, often referred to as the house cat when kept as an indoor pet. Cats are characterized by their lithe bodies, long tails and sharp claws. They are very good climbers and often spend a large amount of time perched atop high places. Their night vision is six times better than that of humans and they can see in color, though not as vividly as humans. Their hearing is also much better than ours, and they can communicate with each other using a variety of vocalizations, including purring, meowing, hissing and growling.

Behaviour

Cats are known for their independent nature, but that doesn't mean they don't enjoy companionship. In fact, cats are very social creatures that need interaction with their owner on a regular basis. Without enough attention, cats can become depressed or anxious, which may lead to behavioural problems. The best way to keep your cat happy and healthy is to spend time playing with them every day.

Health

Cats are generally healthy animals and can live long lives if they are well cared for. However, like all animals, they are susceptible to health problems. The most common health problems in cats are obesity, dental disease, and upper respiratory infections.
